Ninja Porn: Puig, Area P, Blackness

Ninja 250R PicturesThe point of ‘Readers Rides’ is to give people a visual reference of how parts look on their bikes. So, if you wanna see your bike up here, send me your pictures (Good pictures please.. No camera phones / Digital cameras from 1994)

Here are some great shots from one of our reader Bryan, who is well on his way to perfecting black, on black …. on more black.. One of the things I was excited to see is the Smoke Puig windscreen on this bike… It looks awesome, but for reference, the other parts on this bike are:

  • Area P quiet core full exhaust
  • Puig dark smoke wind screen
  • Fender eliminator/license plate bracket w/LED turn signals
  • Self painted gray metallic wheel stripes
  • Dynojet kit
  • Ported airbox

Nice Bike Man! Keep it up!

Puig Red on Red Windscreen

Puig Red Windscreen | Ninja 250

You wanted Pics of Red on Red with the Puig windscreen… And We got em!

Here is my Puig windscreen in red.  It took 6 weeks waiting for import then customs but I’m very pleased.  It’s very similar to the Zero Gravity Double Bubble forming.  The clarity is excellent and the coloring a great match to the body (my biggest concern).  It cost me alittle under $100 from Bulletbikez.  The grips are Progrip Gels, by the way, also a good color match.

Thanks Erik! Bike’s looking awesome!

Hotbodies Windscreens

Hotbodies Ninja 250 WindscreenHotbodies Racing now makes a replacement windscreen for our beloved Ninja 250’s… Running about $20 cheaper than the Puig screens, the Hotbodies screens come in a few less options (Only 4 colors and 2 Styles) — But for the most part they will cover 90% of our wants and needs.

These screens are made out of impact and scratch resistant acrylic, and the vacuum formed and then CNC machined to perfection. (And anything CNC is rad in my book… Music factories included) The two styles available are “SuperSport”, which is pretty much a stock replacement, and Grandprix, which is 1″ taller and has a dual radius design to it. The Grandprix is available in green, blue, smoke and clear where the Supersport is only available in clear and smoke.

Over all looks like a nice piece. I’m thinking I might pick up a Grandprix in smoke — seems to be exactly what I’m looking for.

Manufacture: Hotbodies Racing
Link: None. This part is Not Avilable.

[ Thanks for the tip Bryan! ]

*UPDATE * — DOH! Just received an email from Hotbodies. This link was a mistake and the windscreens will be released in 2-3 Months… :(

Zero Gravity Windscreens

Zero Gravity Windscreens

Zero Gravity has updated their website to include three new windscreens for the Ninja 250R. In addition, I must give them some mad props for the compare pictures. So Rarely do you see manufactures take the time out to do a compare like the one above.

Both the SR and the Double Bubble look hot.. But for all of you with iron tooshies their sport touring option might be a nice addition to help with the highway wind beating you take with the stocker.

And for those of you with a crazy side, there are 10 Colors to choose from.. I wonder how well the colors match OEM Kawasaki colors.. Any one have any preference with Zero Gravity colored windscreens in the past?

[Thanks for the tip Charles!]

Pricing:
SR Series (20-281) : $79.95
Double Bubble (16-281): $89.95
Sport Touring (23-281): $89.95

Kawasaki UK Shows some Ninja Candy

Turn Signals FrontKawasaki UK updated their website recently to add in some neat goodies for the Ninja 250R. No updates on the US site (I mean common, they still have a picture of a 07 up for parts!) — But rumor has it there will be some parts released Stateside during the dealer meeting in October.

The parts that jumped out at me were the Bubble Windscren and the LED Turn Signals. Hopefully some of these (If they are DOT approved *shrug*) Start showing up stateside…

Painted / Tinted Windscreen

Ninja 250R Painted windscreenReader DeerCelica sent me in a link to his latest Mod on his Ninja 250R. He broke out the ol’ rattle can and threw on a few quick coats of Krylon on his windscreen — and it came out really nice.

His Instructions are:

4 allen head bolts and the windscreen slides right out, the bolts on the bottom facing up don’t go to the windscreen, they go to the mirrors. Takes a whole 60 seconds to remove the screen. After that, lay some tape over the front to stop overspray onto the front of the screen. I used Krylon Satin Black (satin / flat spray paint lays allllot smoother than gloss). Gave it two light coats and re-installed (mist it on slowly).

Simple enough huh…

Also, if you don’t want to use a full black spay.. Also an old trick is to use model ‘tint’ spray. This Testors paint is available at any hobby store — and does a great job. (Not to mention it comes in ‘candy’ colors like blue, green, red, etc.)

Thanks for the tip DeerCelica!
