Kawasaki UK Shows some Ninja Candy

Turn Signals FrontKawasaki UK updated their website recently to add in some neat goodies for the Ninja 250R. No updates on the US site (I mean common, they still have a picture of a 07 up for parts!) — But rumor has it there will be some parts released Stateside during the dealer meeting in October.

The parts that jumped out at me were the Bubble Windscren and the LED Turn Signals. Hopefully some of these (If they are DOT approved *shrug*) Start showing up stateside…

Thanks for the tip Nathan.

“No Cut” Brake Modulator

Rear-Alert | No Cut Brake modulator | Ninja 250RA while back we talked about the BackOff brake Modulator/Flasher but it does require a few wires to be cut for installation. Some crafty 2Fiddy’r has come out with a much less expensive option, that is also ‘No Cut’ installation.. (Can we say WIn-Win) Meaning it’s “Plug and Play”… So You can put away your soldering irons, butt plugs, and electrical tape and run right out and flash your neighbors.. (Whoa.. That can be taken a few different ways…) This no cut model is based off the Rear-Alert module, and installation should take no more than “2 minutes”..

So for those of you asking, ‘What exactly is a Brake Modulator, and why do I want one?” — Well it’s simple:

When your front or back brakes are applied, the modulator pulses your brake lamp for about 4 seconds. The lamp then stays on solid until you release the brakes. Re-applying the brakes causes the unit to pules the brake light an additional 4~5 seconds. Generally you get 7 or 8 pulses before the lamp stays on solid. Also, cutting the green wire doubles the flash time should you want your brake light to flash longer.

Remember, Visibility is key when it comes to safety when on a bike.

Competition Werkes Flush Mount LED Turn Signals

First, I would like to thank Competition Werks for sending 2fiddy.com a free Set of their F-Series Kawasaki flushmount LED Turn signals to give away to one of our lucky readers..

Unfortunately, the rumors around the Internet that these fit the 2008 Ninja 250R are un true, and after a test fit of a pair I bought for myself they just won’t work.

After talking to Competition Werks today — They too just tried them on a test bike and found out that they don’t fit… ( But Hopefully this means that they Working on some that do? )

On the positive Side, The build quality of these lights are really top notch — so if your looking for a set I highly recommend them. (Just not for the 250R.. just yet…)

Thanks to Competiton Werks for the promo set - But looks like we’ll just need to wait one more week for another 2Fiddy.com give away… :(

Flush Mount Turn Signals

Ninja 250 Flush Mount SignalsAs of now, there is still not a Ninja specific bolt on / snap in flush mount kit for the 250R. However, the motorcycle aftermarket is pretty damn vast and has lots of parts available — Just sometimes needs someone to take the plunge and try a few things out to see what works.. That’s why people like Malaquite over at KawiForums just freaking rock — because they are willing to be the guinea pig, and then post how they did it.

These flush mounts are manufactured by Lockhart Phillips (Part number #122-9737). They can be found Here for only $18.

These look really nice for < $20.. And only require some slight modifications to the light (Not the Bike) to work. Also, be aware that you do need to clip some wires to get this to work.. So Make sure you solder and shrink wrap like good little kiddies to keep these guys nice and weather proof.. [ Editor Note: Wire Crimps and electrical tape are the spawn of the Devil. Man up and do it right!! If you don’t know how to solder There are some really good resources out there to help you learn! This is a talent everyone should have.. ]

BackOff XP Brake Modulator/Flasher

Backoff XP Module / Light FlasherTo me, one of the worst sounds you can hear on a bike is the sound of screeching tires… Behind you… And the worst thing you can see in your mirrors is the whites in the eyes of bugs smashed against the grill of some soccer moms Expedition. At the end of the day, I think we are all Looking for a way to increase our visibility on the road - because some people just don’t get the hint.

The BackOff XP is neat lil product from Signal Dynamics Corp. The module installs in line with your brake line and gives you two modes of operation. First is a repeating pattern of 4 quick flashes, and 1 longer flash. And Second, 5 short flashes and then a solid light. The manufacture claims that the first mode is designed to grab drivers attentions and retain it.

In addition to the giving you a more visible brake light, the module has options for emergency hazards, and also backup warnings. (The Emergency hazards being a popular request on many of the Ninja Forums) And you don’t need to worry about the future if you upgrade to LED’s. This module works with both bulb and LED applications.

Price: ~$40
Installation: Few wires.. ~30mins.

Headlight Guard for Ninja 250R

Ninja 250R Light GuardWhile I was over at the Ventura website looking at the Lugagge Racks I also noticed that they released a nifty lil light guard for the 2Fiddy… This is a great lil piece of insurance for only $34. Considering the price of a new headlight assembly, that is darn cheap. (If you’re new to riding, wait until you have a rock hits your helmet or bike… Wounds their cheap, headlights — They cost lost of money ;) ) Even worse, Imagine that rock hitting your headlight at night and blowing it out. Yup, then you’re Really screwed.

Part Number: 162

: Light-Guard
Manufacture: Ventura
Cost: $34
