Shocking Ninja 250

Solar ninja 250Get it? Shocking? Because it’s electric.. And you know, Electricity — well — shocks…

*Ahem* Anyways, here is an interesting example of how not to impress the ladies. First, Take a Ninja 250. Second slap some D’s on it. (As in D-Cells) Glue a few solar panels on your house. And finally, enlist some ex-set builders from Star Trek to whip you up some fiberglass panels.. And Wallah! You got 70MPH with a range of 50 Miles.

All joking aside, it is a rather innovative idea. I like how people are showing the practicality of Solar, not just for the home, but for the road as well. Imagine the same setup on a Chevy Volt, or even a Plugin Prius. You’d be able to get a few extra miles a day for free by topping off your batteries with some sun juice.

It’s just at the end of the day, it hurts to see somone make your baby look goofy

Thanks for the tip Julian! [via Autoblog Green]

2009 Ninja 250R Officially Official

2009 Ninja 250R Special Edition

Kawasaki updated the webpage for the 2009 Ninja 250R… And not to to many people’s surprise, not much has changed.

What has changed:

Price is listed as $3,499 - $4099 (Pretty sure this is a misprint and should be $3,999-$4,099)

Colors are now: Metallic Diablo Black, Sunbeam Red, Candy Thunder Blue, Special Edition Lime Green / Metallic Diablo Black

There is a special edition version ( Lime Green / Metallic Diablo Black) Which also looks to get wheel stripes.

Updated the pictures, removing the pictures of the woman riding the bike. (Perhaps marketing shift?)

More details: Kawasaki.com

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Ninja 250R Scorpion Exhaust

Scorpion Exhaust for Ninja 250RAnother day, and another new exhaust for the Ninja 250R. This exhaust comes from Scorpion Exhausts (Who pretty much make exhausts to fix anything on wheels from bikes, cars, atv’s and even scooters)

This particular exhaust for the Ninja 250R doesn’t really stand out from the crowd looks wise, but it does have a great little sound to it. (See Video on the second page) In addition, Scorpion products tend to be pretty easy to come by, and easy to get good deals on — So I see this exhaust as becoming more and more popular over time. In addition, this exhaust was designed based off of stock fueling. So, no jet kit or mods are needed to support this guy, which makes this exhaust a great option for people just looking for a lil more sound and scoot..

Available in three finishes Stainless, Titanium, and Titanium Flame. Details and where to buy can be found here.

[Thanks for the tip NH!]

Best Mods/Parts for the Ninja 250R

Scratch HeadWhat mods or Parts are the best ones for the Ninja 250R? Which should I do First?

… Seems to be the first question to pop into mind for every new boy and girl as they wait for Kawasanta to bring them their shiny new 2009 Ninja 250R? (Or wait for a 2008 to show up on a dealers lot)

Granted this topic is completely objective.. The best mods are the ones you’re happy with — But to help steer you in the right direction, I’ll throw my $.02 into the ring, and feel free to do so yourself in the comments.

#1: Good Riding Gear - There are lots of new riders on this bike, so I know many of you will be starting from scratch… Spend your money on gear! Good gear will last you a long time, and save your butt when you need it the most! DO NOT SKIMP ON GEAR TO SAVE MONEY FOR PARTS!

#2: Needle Shim / Jet Kit - These bikes tend to be a bit anemic. Adding a jet kit or shimming your needles will give you the most bang for your buck of any ‘performance’ mod. (Unless you’re one of those lucky Bastards in AU, UK, Indo, Japan, etc. that has fuel injection…)

#3: Stainless Braided Brake Lines - The stock lines are just Squishy and don’t give much feedback… This is a decent 100$ mod that will get you lots of bang for your buck… Just make sure if you don’t know what you’re doing you get some help… Brakes are well.. You know.. Kinda important.

#4: Fender Eliminator - Sorry to everyone that lives in an area where these are illegal.. But the rear fender is horrible.. Chop that crap off, or find an aftermarket part.

#5: Rear Seat Cowl - This is both for aesthetics and safety. Two up on the 250R is a bit shady to me. I think it brings a lot of people out of their comfort zone for riding, and also the additional weight brings the 250R close to the limits of safe riding. The Seat cowl looks great, and makes 2 up riding a non issue.

Bike Stands

I have been looking for a decent bike stand for a while now. I went to my local Cyclegear and the stands were not only kinda pricey, but not very impressive ($120 for a MotoBoss stand? Really?)  — And I know I have seen better deals that that around the Internet. So I started looking around and found two great options (That come highly recommended), one bargain choice, and one creme de’ la creme choice.

Now, remember, a good motorcycle stand is something that will last you the test of time. So, don’t think of this as a part for this bike, but as a tool for your shop, like a good set of sockets or wrenches.

T-Rex Bike StandT-Rex Bike Stands:

Price: ~60$ (rear) ~$110 (set) plus ~$15 for spools / bobbins / swingarm sliders.
URL: T-Rex Racing

These are a nice set of less expensive stands. But, they get the job done.. These stands come very highly recommended by the community, and look good doing it. Overall, these will probably be the set I end up picking up. You just really can’t beat the price on these guys.

Pitt Bull Stands:
Pitt Bull Bike Stand
Price: ~135$ (rear) ~$300 (set) plus ~$15 for spools / bobbins / swingarm sliders.
URL: Pitt Bill Products

These stands should last you forever. They are beefy. They are modular. They are just sick. Giving you the option to do spool or forklift with both rear and front lift, etc etc. If you want a stand that you know you will never have to replace, these are your bride to be’s.
