Targa Fender Eliminator
If you build it, they will come…
And building it y’all did… A demand for fender eliminators that is. Targa, who’s previous offering was incompatible with the seat cowl, has released a new fender eliminator that has proper clearances to allow for our beloved rump hump… (Not that it matters, seeing as how the US is completely dried of up seat cowls right now.)
This kit from targa comes with turn signals, and also a trick billet license plate light. All for a damn good price.. And from what I have been told, this is a No-Cut kit, but I cannot 100% verify this. So if any knows for sure, please post up in the comments!
Manufacture: Targa
Price: ~$90.00
Where to buy: Link
Thanks for the Tips Andrew & Jake!

This is by far the best option out there now that you can use it in conjunction with the optional kawasaki seat cowl. If I had not spent the time to make mine this would be the one.

Hello,
No Cutting or drilling is required of any part. It is a straight bolt on installation.

Hi,
Is this a no cut kit ?
Does any stock part (fender, wires) have to be cut?
Thank you.

meh. it’s the best value.
Did you guys check ebay for the cowls, that’s where I bought mine, for $80+shipping.

That’s definitely better then 100.00 dollars. DJAZ did yours come packaged in a Kawasaki box and was it free of defects?

I got mine off of EBay as well, it was perfect..
But I just checked, not a single one on EBay…
This seat cowl drought is making me think one of two things…
#1: The part is being redesigned due to some of the issues with the original one.
#2: This part will become standard on the 2009’s and that is why there is a shortage and/or aren’t bothering shipping anymore.
I don’t have proof of either of those, just theories…

Thats good information to know, thank you…. I don’t know why a popular aftermarket company has not jumped on this? I’m sure someone could make one and sell it for 60.00 dollars or so.

You can order seat cowls at powersedge.com It took 4 days for me to get mine. About $90 with shipping. Make sure you order the “kit” and not just the cover.

That’s a good site as you can order any part from kawasaki directly where they let you see the detailed diagrams that they use at the Kawi dealerships.
I can use this online company instead of driving to the dealership and probably save even more money.
I found the seat cowl but they refer to it as a cover. Here is the actual description that I found:
Tag 99996, SKU: 99996-1356-IG, Kit, single seat cover, ebony (option) price $84.81
Is this what your looked like when you ordered it?

Thats what I found at the Powersedge.com website after digging around. I’m just lazy so I guess its just a phone call aways to find out for sure. I just like to doing everything through the web so I don’t have to be put on hold or be transferred or whatever. Anyways it sounded like the seat cowl because they had part number differences for the red, black, green and blue.

I bought one as soon as it came out. The replacement bottom cover for the brake light is a metal piece that doesn’t fit properly. It comes with two plastic pieces that stick onto the sides. That also doesn’t fit properly. I might have had a defect, but since I live in Hawaii, I didn’t want to ship it back. I ended up cutting the fender and using the Targa mounting hardware (you can use the stock bolts, but the Targa ones were longer and easier to install), license plate bracket, turn signals, and license plate light. The license plate bracket fits if you decide to cut the fender off and use the remaining stock piece. You do not need to cut any wires for the signal lights. It already comes with OEM connectors. However, you will need to splice the license plate light. Also, the license plate light only lasted a week. The StreetFX LED accent lights work better.

The kit does the job. It went together fairly smoothly. Would have liked some picts with the instructions.
Stick on side panels are kinda hokey. I trimmed them up and they look fine. I like the new blinkers included. I give it a 7.5 on a 1 to 10 , 10 being high. Cheers!

the directions were super easy and there is notheing else for me to say except that i have NEVER used a dremmel before and the finished results looks pretty fucking awesome!! it looks really clean and professional. i used the same tools as mentioned in the 2fiddy.com thread for DIY fender eliminators.
u can buy aluminum sheet metal and fabricate your own bracket to hold the stock reflector
_______________
cut it to look like this I I it should kind of resemble a “T”
—– —–
I I
—-
the top of the T is bolted to bottom holes of license plate.
the T portion on the bottom should bolt to the stock reflector. make sure to ustilize the “nub” (drill a second hole next to where the reflector bolt will go thru) to keep the reflector from swinging all over the place.
i got pulled over for using those small reflectors they sell at cycle gear that bolt on to bottom license plate holes. in California, reflectors must be visible from 100 feet.. i used the stock reflector and secured the license plate to the bracket with bolts that HAVE MINI LED LIGHTS INSIDE THEM!!!! go to bikerlitez.com to check them out. i’ll post pictures as soon as i get a new digi camera.
its really is ridiculous to pay $100 for some low quality kit. just man up, do it yourself, feel proud of what you are doing, and save the $100 for Steel-braided brake lines!!
