Nojima Exhaust
The international parts scene is kicking the poo out of the US scene as far as getting parts to market… Here is some more Japanese goodness in the form of an exhaust by Nojima. This is a full exhaust that actually has a super nice look to it, ( Sorta like a refined Yosh) and I was really getting jealous that Asia is getting all these awesome goodies, and us…. Not so much…
Then I realized… it’s also almost a $1000 USD… Yah… Exactly..
So — I guess at the end of the day, I’m starting to understand why these are not imported… I really doubt that many Americans would dish out a cool K on an exhaust for a $4k Bike…
Manufacture: Nojima
Price: ¥99,750 (~$950 USD)

Thanks Rogg for sending this in…

Looks like something Akrapovic would make. I love Akrapovic’s style and finish where I bet a full system from them for the 250R would range above the 1000 mark as well. I like the springs that hold the canister to the mid pipe much better then the clamp that comes with most of the aftermarket exhaust these days. It just has that factory look which I like plus they seem to seal better in my opinion.

I see the baseline dyno without the kit is 27 bhp on the wheel for the fuel injected vs around 25 for the carb version which is about what I got from the dyno station in Thailand who tested a FI Ninja 250R to peak at 28 bhp on the back wheel. so the FI gives 2 - 3 bhp more.
I ordered the quiet Area-P and if that give around 5 bhp more as it does on the carb version, it should end up in 32 - 33 hp range on the backwheel for my FI. Much cheaper, and much more power, roll on Area-P. Best bang for the buck and a support from Area-P which has been 2nd to none. He have helped me choose the can from my usage, explained the how2 on modding for the FI model (O2 sensor) of the kit and overall been extremely helpful. Anyhow I have decided to do a baseline dyno and an Area-P dyno after I break in my 09 FI, and I will send it to Area-P plus post it here for anyone else with interest in the performance of the FI with quiet can, should be done by the end of next month, unless something ruins that plan
***** Five stars for Area-P support and price

Anyone have instructions on how to install the Area P (US models) ? Just curious how difficult it is…

Piece of cake, not hard at all to remove the stock exhasut and add the new one. Really, the most time consuming part of it all is taking the right side lower fairing off. Anyways, I have the quiet core version and I like it a lot. Great value when compared to anything else out there. I perfer the longer exhaust can as I think the smaller 12in version makes the all ready small bike look even dinkier. The sound is very nice and low but is not crazy loud. Remember you will have to re-jet if you add the full exhaust and probably the slip on as well. While I was waiting for my jet kit to come in I got anxious and started my bike up with the exhaust on it where it would not even rev where it bogged when you appied the throttle. Since then I’ve added the jet kit and the bike sounds and runs great for smaller distance trips in and around town.

Since adding the exhaust and re-jetting, have you tried it on the highway yet ? Have you noticed a difference in acceleration ? I won’t be putting my exhaust on until next season, so I’ll have time to order the jet kit and exhaust and do it all in one. I was thinking of getting the smaller version, but I do agree that it could make the bike look even smaller.

I don’t really take mine on the highway much as I try and stick to the streets so I can’t tell you whether it helps highway cruise ability. The exhaust and jetting definitely gave it some more pull up top in a straight line race but I don’t like to cruise at 9, 10, or 11 thousand RPM. Last week though, I took it out on an assignment that lead me out of town on a 80 mile trip with wide open farm roads where the bike just gets to buzzy for my taste where I was riding 70 to 80 mph. With the right bike (600cc inline) I’ll take a 700 plus mile road trip in a heartbeat but the 250R is just not really a well suited bike for this purpose in my opinion. Also while on my little excursion I had a near fatal experience that I would like to share for fun. While on the trip I found myself traveling down a really cool stretch of road in the woods that included a super twisty section where I ended up over shooting one of the corners apex’s where I could not hold my line. At first I was like its ok as I started to drift into the oncoming lane where at exactly at that time a extremely LARGE, really nice moving truck appeared out of no where and was headed right for me. All I could do at that moment was to just bare down and pushed my right grip forward opposite to the way I was turning and continue to lean the bike inward while holding my breath. At the last second before I was going to clip the corner of this massive truck I managed to pull it back a small amount where I missed the truck by about a foot at 50 mph. The odd thing about the whole event was as it was happening I was fixated on watching the driver of the truck to see his reaction as I barreled straight for him and he did not even twitch, open his mouth or try and give me any extra room. He just had this look on his face like hey man, I’m sorry that I’m going to have to do this to you, but….. BAM your dead.
