Painted Heatshield - Quick, Easy and Sweeeeeet
This is a real nice trick to spruce up your Black (Possibly red?) Ninja’s. Poster MurderedOut over at KawiForums posted up a few pics of his bike — and the first thing that caught my eye was the painted exhaust heat shield. To me, adding the paint really helps the blacks on the bike flow, instead of having this vomit of chrome brake side…
The How-To on this is pretty easy:
1. Remove 2 Bolts for heat shield.
2. Clean heat shield.
3. Lightly sand heat shield.
4. Shake Can.
5. Point and Spray.
6. Let Dry.
7. Re attach with 2 screws.
MurderedOut said he used a flat black.. And after thinking about it, I think I agree that the Flat black will look better than a high gloss black here. Either way — Make sure you get a high temp paint made for engine blocks, bbq grills, or other high temp applications. (Dupli-color makes a ceramic paint good up to 1200° which I highly recommend)

Good job boss.. Thats a great looking bike you got going there!

Yea i agree i just recently bought the D&D exhaust for my bike and it came with a flat black heatshield to match the color of the can itself.I own a red 250 and it looks really good. I think on all color bikes it would look good. When i ordered the exhaust i wasnt aware of the h/s but i really like it alot gave it a little more bang for its buck.

If I still had a heat shield, I would do this. It looks great. Area P all the way…

Also did this over the weekend (along with the windscreen). I took the heat shield Yoshi sent with the Full System…scuffed it up a little with a Brilo pad…cleaned it off with some de-natured alch. and 3 coats later it was lookn’ good! The Flat Black i used didn’t match the frame 100%…but it is close enough. I was very pleased with how it came out!

1st of all hello to every1!!
I recently bought a new 08 250 and have ordered and installed a flashing switch for the tailight, fiberglass rear tire cowl and painted it green to match the bike. Also have bought the reflective tape for the rims and now because of this forum painting my heat shield.
I love this bike and all it can do on the roads.I have 1 problem and thats that i only way 150 pounds and the bike hopps badly at 30 to 57mph.It`s been to 2 dealers and now working on the third to find the problem.i`ve got a new front tire i had to pay for since kawasaki said it wasn`t covered. What a joke, only 2000 miles on and bad but the new tire does the same thing.it`s going on a month now and cant even ride the dang thing.LOL
I hope this isn`t going to be a issue with lighter riders.Have been told by other riders it needs thicker fork oil but i guess we`ll see.
Question:How many mechanics does it take to fix a ninja?? Heh
Peace
