Ninja 250R Racing at Talladega
Do you love all things Ninja Racing like I do? I love seeing these videos — Makes me wish there was a track closer then 3 hours away to me..
Here is great video from the June 14th, 2008 WERA race @ Talladega. Not sure who the rider is — and the rest of the details are pretty vague — but a good watch never the less.

I have a title for this one, “Life as a backmarker”. Maybe he/she is new, but it’s a good thing the vid didn’t go longer or we would have seen he/she getting lapped.

ghillie,
Fast or slow, at least they are out on the track.. Which is more than I can say for myself…

How does qualifiying in WERA work? Because it looks like he/she started near the front… or maybe it was the back of the 250 class and the beginning of a faster class?

That’s me in the red leathers on the 714. There were actually 5 250s in that race.
3 hours to go to a track? That’s not far at all. I live over three hours from Talladega, and just drove over 5 hours last weekend to race at Road Atlanta.
Yeah, all of the 250s got lapped. We were racing in the same class as Honda Hawks and Ducati 750s. There’s just no way to be competitive against bikes with over double the horsepower.
We were gridded by points. There’s no class for the 250s yet, but we’re hoping to have one for next year.

Yeah, 2fiddy, I’m too old and likely too slow to do that any more. But it seems some more track days are in order given the entry speed and cornering speed of those in the film.
Hang in there newbies, its a great sport!

Well…since you all stated the obvious already I won’t bother.
This person is not a seasoned racer, or rider. I almost vomited everytime they dumped the throttle a gear low into a corner that was 50 ft ahead. But I admire their fortitude and hope they get better. Thanks for posting the vid!
That said, I am now committing to strapping my Canon S5 under my front fairing and showing what this wicked little bike can do on a backroad with a crazy fool on the bars. It’s coming…
**ouch for Talledega..that was some scratchy asphalt. I have country roads 30 years old that are in better shape.

Hey DJAZ, why don’t you come on up to Tally in August and show us how it’s done?

The track was just totally resurfaced a little over a year ago. It’s got pretty good grip.
Oh, and FWIW, all but one of the Ninja 250s turned better lap times than the last place 600.

@LDS …I know I know, what a prick I am. : I just got done riding the bike all day at the limit on some ridiculous back roads, so watching the video made my brain crash. I’m all for this person taking the Barber course and making another video. Thanks for the polite snark. I’m not really “that” guy
Maybe I will be there. I would really like to get a set of radials mounted before I hit the track. I hate having to sort of bump the bike over. One old lady pulled up next to me and said she was going to call 911 and asked if I was hurt. I thought maybe I had lost a foot or something but soon realized she thought I had crashed in the turn! I was just sliding the ol’ knee…
