Micron Slipon / Endcan Exhaust

micron exhaust ninja 250This is the first exhaust I have seen coming out of England for the 2008+ Ninja 250R. This is a nice looking Slipon (Or as they call it “End Can”)… Not details if it is just for the Fuel Injected models. (Do we know if that even makes a difference in exhaust choices yet? ) Colors Available are Stainless and Titanium, and the look to me is sorta a mix between Yoshi and Two Bros. Overall a really nice looking piece.. And if you’re worried about it being too loud, there is an additional silencer available for £50 (About 100$ USD)

Details:

DELTA Sport An evolution of Micron’s hugely popular Delta+ range, our new Delta Sport endcans feature the same, sleek oval design but boast revised inlet and outlet technology. And with more technology for the same price, it’s also astonishing value.

Microns site has a link to a video — but it doesn’t look like it’s online yet. I’ll update this post as soon as they get something up.

Manufacture: Micron Exhausts
URL: Here
Prices:
- Titanium (RMK70/0T) £324.99 ~ $650 USD
- Stainless (RMK70/0A) £249.99 ~ $500USD

This looks pretty cool, but I could only imagine what the full system would cost. I really like the end cap that this exhaust uses which is very similar to the Yoshimura. I guess this is why I feel in love with the Yosh the first time I saw it. It has such a clean and futuristic look but the cost of the full system is really high. The Area P exhaust has more of a standard look, not as exciting, but has nothing but pure performance designed into it where it has the best price as far as full systems go. The Two Brother exhaust in my opinion is cool as well but I just don’t like the pattern in the carbon fiber weave plus it is very high in price for the full system. Have not seen the dyno chart from this exhaust yet so I can’t compare it to the “Power House” Area P system. Anyways, buying just a slip-on for 500 bucks just seems silly as all you really get is the extra sound and a small weight advantage. I don’t know about you but that’s a lot to pay for something where you only get half the product. With the Area P exhaust you get the most performance plus the looks and the full weight benefit. I think its a simple decision on which exhaust to go with but if you are just one of those folks who likes to spend more money to be different then that’s cool too.

    Astute observations as always Bthornhill!

I think these slip-ons make any bike look like a toy. I think the AreaP and Raptor are the more astetically pleasing options. Add your whole weight, price and performence advantages and I can’t imagine why people spend the money on slip=ons over full systems. Have they heard the area-p? It sounds amazing. The two-brothers is ok but the yoshi sounds stupid and raspy.

    2 cents. Mine.

I agree with the “toy” comment. Both the 2 Bros and the Jardine give the bike this dinky toy look as well. I usually like Micron…the look…the sound…this thing just doesn’t do anything for me. Even the other colors don’t change my mind (maybe thats cuz i’m a big C/F fan). And its a lot of money for a little slip-on…I also agree with the slip-on Vs. full comment. I guess you only get it for looks and sound!? Whatever makes you happy.

My Full Yoshi C/F will be here Thur the 10th!! The Area P is just all over the place. Everyones got it. The look just doesn’t excite me…and everyone is all “OMG the AP killed the dyno…AND THEY DIDN”T EVEN JET IT!!!!”….whatever. I don’t believe any of these on-line dyno charts. No one was there so no one REALLY knows what was done to any of the bikes b4 it got on the dyno. And these on-line vids are just as bad. You just got spend your money and hope for the best… ALl i know is i wanted a good sound…good look…but most importantly good preformance. Not haten’ on AP…I was this close to getting it ( || <–that close! )…but i had the money and just got the full C/F Yoshi. My buddy’s shop has a dyno. Next weekend i will be installing the Full exhaust, re-jetting, card sync, de-snorkle, removing the Kleen system, etc. I will let you know what MY dyno run is like. I post something on the KF and comment on the Yoshi post here. (PS I can’t spell so go EZ)

    Jasen,

The people who buy AP’s are looking for the boost without the price… People who by the Yoshi are looking for the looks, and the boost is just an added bonus.

I have the Yoshi on my bike — and love it. But I bought it for looks first, performance second… The other thing that scares me is that the AP says you don’t need to Jet.. Not sure if that is sales tactic or not… I still cannot believe no one (That I know of) has independently verified the AFR’s on an AP.

Back on topic tho — I like the micron.. I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a toy.. I think the toy look comes from not having the heat shield on.

Sorry to get off topic…i was on a rant and couldn’t stop Lol. But I agree that the heat shield is what gives it that like gum ball machine look. And the look is so plain…If there were a low mount GP type exhaust i would be all for it!…BTW…lets say i trim the exhaust pipe lower (just beofre the can)…to maount it lower and give it that smaller GP look…what harm can come from this?? I guess you’d have to cut and weld the exhaust mount higher on the can so you would be able to pull it down lower. Not planning on doing this at all just wondering. Haven’t seen or heard of anyone doing this!?

    Jasen,

If you go any shorter, you might run into the brake line support… And In fact — You’ll have a major heat source way closer to your brake lines that I’d like to see for comfort..

But if it can be done, give it time.. The after market will respond…

Wow you guys are all over this.

“Gumball machine”, perfectly hilarious! I think a pipe should look like a pipe not a sharper image “ionizer”. Or a starwars landing craft. Or a new instrument from Korg that synthesizes farts into 72 midi programmable effects. Which is what the yoshi/micron looks like to me. :) no-banhammer…

As for the Area P. You remember how excited you got with the ReJet Mr.2Fiddy? The Area P is like that.
No doubt the rush of power from 11-13.5 is all AreaP. In 5th gear I can now go from 91 MPH at 11 to 110 MPH at 13+RPM. Couldn’t do that before (5th freakin’ gear, man) and my mechanic swears the rejet won’t get you much more power at the top end. I know, that’s hardly a Dyno reading but I thought it was a semi-plausible example.

Sadly Micron have ceased manufacturing exhausts now as they went out of business in early July. All 20 staff have been laid off and the company is now in administration.

It looks unlikely that they’ll survive

Since the question came up with difference in Fuel Injected vs Carb versions. I have a FI and the difference is in the header not in the slipon or end can or what have you… The FI version has a Lambda sensor installed on what appears to be a front cat, right behind where the header pipes meet. So for me who bought an Area-P quiet core, have to mod the new header by drilling a hole and welding on a stainless nut to re-install the sensor. The slip-on just slips on any version… If a US buyer get a full set from e.g. Japan I guess you will need to plug the hole…
