HR1 Exhaust

Hardrock Motorsports Released their HR1 exhaust for the Ninja 250R this past week. This is an interesting lil’ (literally) Exhaust, and finally brings something new to the mix vs your standard stainless / titanium / carbon fiber offerings…
The HR1 is small.. But, with it’s small size, it does give you the benefit of weight savings. The slip on canister weighs in at only 3.5 Lbs. In addition the HR1 has an interesting bit of technology built into it… Hardrock Motorsports calls it it “Variable Back Pressure Adjuster” — Which allows the user to adjust the back pressure of the exhaust to maximize mods.. Very Interesting.. Sorta grow as you go..
I haven’t found any sound clips or vids yet. But as soon as I do, I’ll make sure and get them up.
UPDATE: Video after the jump. Thanks for the link Michal!
Manufacture: hardrock Motorsports

Price: ~$425.00

Figures…I say I want a lil GP Style exhaust and go get the Full Yoshi and NOW this comes out! Lol. Anyway…I think it looks pretty good on the bike! I’d like to hear it but just the look of it…Def an eye catcher…a lot better then that POS Micron and cheaper $$. If i didn’t already buy the Yoshi I’d consider getting this!
BTW…I like the flush mounts they have in the pic and the turn sigs on the site!

My questions is how people ride bikes that are this loud? With such a little exhaust it has to be extremely loud even at idle. Noise is one reason why motocross track and trails all over the U.S. are being shut down and its mainly because of the added noise. Man I am turning into an old fart. One things for sure, I’m glad no one in my apartment complex has an exhaust this small. The guy down the way has a loud bike where he gets up for work at 6 a.m. and rides it through the complex but he is cool about it and idles it out. Do we really need any more noise pollution then we already have.

I think that is just outrageously cool.
It would have to be horrendously loud, and I can tell you my “quiet” AreaP is slowly causing me to lose hearing…but so is the wind blast from HJC’s oversized space helmet. Got to get an Arai….
@BryanThornhill: Loud exhausts are obnoxious but when you get your bike you will do it anyway! Welcome to the outlaw club

That’s funny DJAZ, I wish you were my neighbor as I bet your a cool guy. I am by no means an old fart just yet as I am 37 but I am definitely developing this grown up father like attitude where not long ago I was running around racing my 1999 fastback Mustang with off-road H pipe and Flow Master exhaust. What a sound that car made and still makes with the right system. One thing I surly don’t miss is being in trouble with the law all the time.

*sigh* my ‘87 GT with flowmasters comes flowing back in memories….nothing like the sound of that 5.0 rasping and roaring.
Yeah….the law sure did notice. I rode by two coppers yesterday. They were reinstalling a road sign someone had stolen. I tried to be subtle with the 250 around the corner, but as it was an uphill turn I wound up dropping two and getting on the throttle. They both jumped at the sound. I figured I was done for….until one of them smiled and shot me a thumbs up.
Moral of this story: everybody loves the 250r!

I’m sorry my memory served me wrong as you helped jarred my memory. Mine was a white LX trunk model ‘90 and not a ‘99. Those days are blurry where you keep me on the straight and narrow DJAZ. I actually had two where my first one was a white GT in 1988 where most people from back in those high school days will remember my white car with black wheels first and then they remember me . My second Mustang had the trunk like the cop cars were we called it a “notchback” and I solely bought that car because it came with the 3.08 final gears ratio and it was lighter. I Had the heads ported, polished and milled 30 thousandths, an intake, larger throttle body and a micro-burst processor chip where it gave it a 3 to 4 car length advantage. I was all about performance, image and racing then. Those were some great cars.

Well that is just awesome! Brings new meaning to the “can” description. Blue color takes it over the edge.

hey guys just put this beast of a can on my 250r and its unbelievable the sound makes this bike sounds like no other and the great increase in power is overwhelming for this 250r the front tire pops off the ground just in 1st gear with (out clutch) i couldnt believe it when it happened eather and i can not top out at 115mph depending on what your looking for this thing can offer you low end power high end and all around with the slider design and it makes the bike look NASTY so if your looking for a new pipe for your 250 this is the one! and they make it in every color to match your bike

Hi:
I just bought the 2009 250r, it’s my first motorcycle so I’m obnoxiously happy. Anyway, I ordered this exhaust after I did some research and then heard it. Here’s my question, after I ordered it, I read a post on another board that someone was having massive problems with the pipe in regards to backfiring and the like, if I recall it’s on a much larger Kawi. He went on to say that there were several other things he had to change on the bike. Will this be the same for the 250r? Was it difficult to change out the exhaust? Is it something I can do on my own or do I have to go to the stealership?

Hi:
Thanks for the response. I’ve been reluctant to put the can on because of the mixed info. I suppose I should just bite the bullet and slam this puppy on. I’ve heard the same sound clip on different speakers and they make a difference. At first I was stoked about how it sounded then I heard it on a different set and I’m suddenly worried. LOL I guess everything really does sound bomb on a Bose. Well, I’ll put it on tonight and get back to you guys.

SEXY! Holy Kawi, this exhaust sounds awesome on the bike. It brought some life into the bike and is just too damn awesome. The only gripe I had, and it wasn’t really anything big was that there were no instructions, just a sticker saying that they were available online which when I checked… they weren’t. instead they gave me a number to call and they were closed until tuesday. I decided it was today or never, it was simple to figure out but at one point we had to bust out the mallet ’cause that bad boy was just not going on the pipe at all. Anyway, it’s all gravy but I couldn’t help but notice my original exhaust was braced pretty well and this one is not. Has anyone had any probs with that aspect?

hey lark, i wouldnt expect too many bracing problems… that baby is so short and light that it wouldn’t move around that much… the stocky only needs it because a) its heavy as and b) all the weight is a long way to the back…

Sweet deal. I wake up at 4am and am out the door at 5am…. I’m thinking the guy apt 273 is hating my guts right now becuase the bike is LOUD! lol. I did notice this morning that if I opened the throttle all the way and then closed it a bit fast i.e. exiting off ramp and such there is just a bit of a backfire but not one that sounds like I’ve been shot at, this is normal, yes? Whatever the case is… I LOVE THIS THING. GET ONE. And thanks for your replies Owen and Michelle.

I’m so excited about this exhaust and considering getting it for my 2009 250r, but it seems as though everyone has mixed feelings about this thing. Loud is what I want with my exhaust. I drove a ram1500 with a cutoff catalytic and dual flowmasters so I’m used to loud. Do the positives outweigh the negatives? It looks freakin awsome but I wish more ppl would post videos of it.
