FastPack - Ninja Storage Solution
So, are you looking for a way to add storage to your bike, without having to bolt on a luggage rack making your lil ninja look like a Griswold Family Truckster? I just so happen to run across the ‘FastPack’ by The Cycle Guys that might be the solution. The FastPack Straps onto your rear seat, and expands accordion style, when you need storage. In addition, when not in use it works as a padded seat cover for your rear seat… So when it’s time for a passenger, less ironbutt is required.
This is actually a really neat solution for anyone looking to add storage, but not need to worry about tank bags — and don’t wanna loose the looks of the new 08′ Ninja styling..
Details:
FastPack, exclusively from The Cycle Guys Inc, is a tail bag that fits over your rear seat. When expanded, it provides lots of useful storage space, about the size of a tankbag. When collapsed and zipped up, FastPack turns into a custom, padded seat cover with a carbon-fiber look. FastPack is attached or removed in minutes, but never has to be removed from your bike. When not needed, simply zip it up and it becomes a stylish padded seat cover. FastPack is Patent Pending, proudly Made in the U.S.A. Features a quality YKK waterproof zipper and weather-resistant heavy-duty canvas and vinyl construction. FastPack comes in 3 sizes to fit many bikes

I think this is pretty interesting. I wonder what one would put in such a small enclosure?
A vase? No. A stuffed animal? Maybe. I carried a six pack of Heineken home in my backpack today on the 250r and it was perfectly weighted. I wonder if this would work better.
Maybe a little Hibachi and some steaks….tailgate

Some entertainment (Nintendo DS, books, magazines, etc). Cell phone. Key cards and ID badges (don’t need those flapping in the wind). Fast food/lunch (ever wanted to go through a drive-through on your bike?).
It’s certainly interesting but I fell in love with these seat covers:

Ever since the dealer sold my bike to another customer (I had a deposit on it) and I realized that I’d be forced to buy red instead of black, I’ve been looking for a colored seat like the “Kawi Green” ‘08 Ninja 650R. It gives you that same sporty cowled look without losing the passenger seat and it’s much cheaper.

I sent that link to Mr. 2Fiddy to see if he would post it on the main page (would’ve made my life easier). Perhaps it could say something about how to save money instead of spending it on that $100 sport cowl accessory… even the package of both seat covers is much cheaper for the time being (seems to be on sale).
I plan to order as soon as my bike arrives this month and I am sure about the color. After losing my black bike, I’m justifiably cautious!
If my handiwork is worthy, I’ll take before and after pics too.

Hmmm….I applaud your research. The covers on the rear seat are neat, nicer than the 650r “banana wrapper” but that pillion…grrk…with the stripe….I dont know. The 250 already straddles toyness and I think that would push it over the edge. Love to see your pics though!
The cowl is pretty perfect, and do you ever take passengers?

They sell the cowl alone. Also, you can pick the colors of all panels so even original black is an option. I think that I’ll buy the kit of both while they are on sale and sell the front seat cover to someone who already bought a sport cowl if I end up feeling the same way about the looks.

“So when it’s time for a passenger, less ironbutt is required.”
If you check the website for this product, although they advertise it as a thick seat cushion for the rear passenger seat, at the bottom it says “Please note we do not recommend you carry a passenger with Fast Pack attached to your seat. ”
What does that even mean? “awesome seat cushion that cannot be used as seat” ?
I know everybody else wants the seat cowl (which I also have) but i often cart around my tiny girlfriend on my 250 and she has mentioned the lack of cushion several times.

Hey all,
Thanks for the kind words about the Fast Pack. In regards to Jon-Mark’s comments, although the Fast Pack has about 1/2 inch of padding below the carbon-fiber-look cover, and we’ve seen people sit on it, we can’t legally claim it can be used as a seat. It’s not been tested by the DOT, and it doesn’t bolt to the bike’s frame, that’s why we say that. Fast Pack has a stretchy shroud that wraps around your bike’s rear seat, kinda like a sock, with hook-and-loop straps underneath for security. Snap your seat into place as normal. Fast Pack won’t scratch your paint, won’t get in your way like a tank bag, and won’t interfere with fueling. It’ll hold more than a six pack. I’ve gotten a pair of shoes (size 12), plus a pair of shorts, socks and a t-shirt, all at one time, in my Fast Pack. I’ve had one on my bike for about 10 months with no problems.
