Cycle World gives the 250R “Honorable Mention” in 10-Best List

cycleworld 10 best july 2008The July 2008 Issue of Cycle World magazine hit news stands this week with the annual 10-Best List. In all honesty, I really didn’t expect to see our lil Ninja 250R on the list — because right now it’s sorta in a class of it’s own here in the US. And I just don’t see it winning “Best Super Bike” any time soon. I think this will be something interesting to watch over the next few years to see if they add something like ‘Best 50MPG+’ or even ‘Best Light Weight’. Perhaps add even the easiest category for the Ninja to win, a category for Best way to meet the… Ladies… (I kid…. I kid… But seriously.. If they did add it it would be no contest… ;) )

That being said, Cycle World did give the lil’ Ninja 250R an Honorable Mention — which is pretty sweet. Reviewers still are impressed with the $3500 mixture of price, handling , looks with two free scoops of fun to ride thrown in.

Despite the 1 Paragraph Blurb on the Ninja 250 — Cycle World is a really good read this month. The 0-180MPH shootout is quite a fun read, with the Ninja’s Liter bike big brothers doing pretty well..

They had a very positive article all about the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R in the June issue. I’m surprised that I didn’t see anything about it on this site. ;)

I was little disappointed to see them list the MPG statistics* but then disregard them without further mention, especially considering their “updated for 2008 Petrol Pinchers” atrticle. I’m sure it wasn’t taken on the same course but “The Loop,” where they got 74.3 MPG on the classic, sounded like a good real-world estimate and was 30MPG better than they averaged with the 2008 model (38mpg min, 45mpg avg, 55mpg max). It another article that requires much more research and before-hand knowledge to avoid walking away without the incorrect “better in every way” impression. Well, there’s always the Buell Blast. :D

*seemingly no other reviews mention this in detail and I could find none comparing fuel economy with the “classic” 250R
