Area-P Quiet Core Exhaust

Area-P Quiet Core ExhaustHands down I have to say that the Area-P might be the most popular exhaust for the Ninja 250R. And it makes sense, it has a great mix of price / performance, and sounds pretty damn good.

Following on the coat tails of their original exhaust the Quiet Core tames out the sound and switches out the shortie canister for a longer full canister with the same great looks.
Pricing stays the same starting at $450 (Stainless) to $495 (Carbon fiber).

A dyno chart for the Quiet Core is not available yet, but Area-P states that power delivery is pretty much the same for the quiet core as it is for their standard exhaust. Also, a jet kit is is not needed for this exhaust, but is recommended.

“After testing several other production bikes, we recommend Dynojet kit # 2193 or Factory Pro kit (or similar) to help optimize the fuel curve and further increase power, as the production bikes do have a tendency to run lean in the low/mid range especially.”

Quiet Core vs. Standard Sound Levels:

Idle 5000rpm
Standard muffler (12″ long, 2.0″ core) 90 dbA 105 dbA
Quiet muffler (18″ long, 1.75″ core) 83 dbA 95 dbA

What final settings did you use when jetting your bike? I’ve got the quiet core Area P exhaust and I removed the snorkle plus I dremeled the snorkle inlet to make it a little bigger to breath a little more. I have not got to run my bike yet but my Dynojet kit came with a 94,96,98,100 main jets where my bike was already sent from the factory using a 98. I settled on the 100 because that’s the biggest one in my kit. Three turns out on the air screw and the clip on the third groove from the top with the two washers added like the kit suggests. Hopefully this will get it close as I surly don’t want to have to strip the bike back down to the carbs setting on the table to change the main jets.

Not sure why you would spend the money for this exhaust… For Looks is my only guess. If the sound is not like the other and your spending the money i would go with the Louder of the two….Just personal preference i guess!

I have the original and quiet core versions of AreaP (one on mine and quiet version for the woman). Performance is pretty much on par, I noticed the 12″ pulls a bit better at the top but at 10-12K rmp it is f-in loud especially if you pulled the snorkel…earplugs are pretty much a must, at least for me.

idle - 9krpm 12″ sounds dead sexy though, but if you spend a lot of time on the freeway/interstate I would go with quiet core.

The Standard is very loud in my opinion. I met someone who just added it and it drives him crazy in traffic. These twins don’t have the sexy firing of the V-twin or the turbine howl of a I4. They sound like lawnmowers. Might as well get more horsepower and a mean sounding lawnmower.

The standard sounds like a nitrous injected chainsaw. Not cool if you still can barely pass at 80 mph…:(

    Got it and love it!

Quiet 18 all the way. Dead sexy sound and lot’s of power up top with Rejet.

Loud enough to get everyone’s attention/admiration at EVERY light, by the way.

About 4x louder than stock at idle, and just awesome sound up top.

I have to mention this as I had a beef to pick with the Area P exhaust guys. I got my full system in from the mail last week where I have been staring at it because I’m waiting to get my jet kit in which has been lost in the system. The more time that I’ve spent looking at my exhaust the less happy I have become. Let me start off by saying their packaging was great and it shipped on time, but the quality of the header part and the construction was a little less desirable. The first thing that I saw wrong was the welding quality of the joints, very rough. The second issue was the extra welding material that formed on the inside of the exhaust from the outside welds that would definitely impede the flow of the exhaust gases where I was shocked that they were not cleaned up. The third issue was the bending of the pipes where the diameter changed in the bigger bends that would restrict exhaust flow and there was a slight crinkling issue. The fourth problem was most of the tubing had deep lines/marks from the mandrel bender that did nothing for its aesthetics. The fifth problem was the inlets ports where they appeared to be some what smaller then the diameter of the exhaust ports where a smooth transition is crucial and one side was out of roundness.

The good thing is that I contacted Area P through the email where the owner Kerry Bryant emailed me back quickly and said this; “We do appreciate your detailed input. We strive to produce a quality product that is reasonably priced. By all means, if you feel the product does not meet your satisfaction, please feel free to return it and I will personally follow through with a replacement that will hopefully meet your criteria. Once again, we do appreciate your input and will hopefully do better next time for you. Please feel free to contact me personally if you decide to give us another try and I will pass along special pricing for your next purchase and as importantly, an improved level of quality.”

The reason that I added my experience for everyone to see is that I am happy with the owners decision to contact me and make amends where he says he will personally take care of me, hand pick a replacement part for me stated in a second email, and addressing my complaints buy saying thank you for your feed back and that he will look into it personally.

A lot of companies would probably not have taken the time to email me back or even offered a replacement. I think this speaks very well of Area P Inc. were I thought it should be noted for other buyers. I ordered the Carbon Fiber version of the exhaust and it was beautiful where it was wrapped very well for shipping and arrived in perfect condition. Hopefully when I get the new stainless exhaust section in I will be 100 percent satisfied as I’m pretty sure that Kerry at Area P will take care of the problems.

The only negative thing that I am left with is I had to pay out the butt to ship it back as UPS and US Postal Office charge for the size of the box and not the actual weight. 40 plus bucks to get it there, ouch!

Wow…that sucks. Mine was almost perfect (to my eyes) mandrel work was smooth and all welds were slighted. Some flashing but that will change over time.

Only one problem, the silencer is not parallel with the frame, rather with the hanger connected it bows out.

The good news is in shotguns into the drivers side window of that bastard who just tried to merge into me….and the sound from behind is a honking snot shy of doubleoh.

DJAZ, check out your first post on this page where I ask you a question about jetting. Also, I need to ask what state you live in so that I can get an idea of your elevation number to see how it will vary from mine here in Little Rock, Arkansas.
