Snorkel / Intake Mod for Ninja 250R
User KKim over @ KawiForums.com did a real nice picture walk through of removing the intake snorkel on the 250. So far users have reported that it gives the bike a nice growl, and makes the low end power delivery smooth out a tad.
Granted this can be accomplished on a stock bike, but you might want to look into the DynaJet jet kit which comes with a set of needles just for modified air boxes.
If anyone has any Dyno Charts w/ AFR’s after doing this mod, please leave a comment. Inquiring minds want to know how this can affect a stock bike.

[…] rumored that the 250R runs a little lean down low in the stock form. Once people start to pull airboxes or start adding exhausts to the mix you start to run the risk of really leaning out your engine […]

to be clear… my bike had shims under the stock needles to richen the mixture in the low-mid range. my recommendation would be to shim first, then remove the snorkel.
I totally agree that removing the snorkel will result in a leaner mixture. Remove at your own risk.
The good thing about this mod is that if you feel it is too lean, just reinsert it and all is back to stock.

Removed the Snorkus, took about 3 minutes. Just yank it right out, easy as pie. Not much noticable difference in sound, I’ve got a 2 Bros. slip on that pretty much drowns it out. Not much noticable gain on power either.
I pulled the bike apart today and shimmed the needle in the carbs with 2 washers. Better power down low. You aren’t going to win the drag race with the SRT-4 yet (backwards in a school zone, no less) but it feels a bit less hesitant from off idle, and builds power faster in the lower ranges. Took about an hour and a half or so, but it could be done quicker if you already know how to pull the fairings and tank off.
Worth doing, IMHO
